A vision statement is the equivalent of placing a big mountain on the horizon of your journey through the desert. It gives you a point to fix on and move towards. I have two great mantras, they are ‘Wander Often, Wonder Always’ and ‘No Mud, No Lotus’, – they pretty much sum up my life, certainly in recent years.
A vision can become the “why” for what you choose to do, maybe, more importantly, it becomes the “why not” for everything you say ‘no’ to, without feeling too guilty.
When I get asked ‘why’ I travel, go walk for miles or put myself through the hassle of doing a Masters degree, my simple answer these days is ‘because I can’ – very Mallory’esque!
“Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero” – roughly translates to ‘Seize the day, put very little trust in tomorrow’…….
because tomorrow is always tomorrow, it never becomes today.
